ROCK CREEK – FALL COLORS

This is day 1 of a two day Fall colors bike ride in the eastern Sierra Mountains. I’ll be staying in a motel for one night only Sunday Oct. 4th. You can stay additional nights and check out the Fall colors in the Mammoth and June Lakes areas if you want. For this ride we will be heading up Rock Creek Road following the creek as it flows through a forest of Quaking Aspens (Populus tremuloides): turning a brilliant golden-yellow in the fall.
Debra, Sally and I will be staying at the Bishop Elms Motel on thr 4th and checking out on the 5th.

Make sure you
1). have slime in your innertubes or tires.
2). bring your bike’s battery charger
3). bring your bike’s battery key
4). have your battery fully charged
5). bring your helmet

INITIAL MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: Jack’s Restaurant in Bishop at 11:30 am. for breakfast/lunch. From there, after eating, we will all caravan to our meetup location for the bike ride.

ROUTE

DISTANCE: 17 miles.

ELEVATION GAIN: 2100′

DEBRIEFING: After the bike ride and after checking into our hotels, we can meet for dinner in Bishop.

THE PACE: No faster than the slowest biker in the group

DURATION: 4 hours of bike riding

LEVEL: Intermediate

TERRAIN: Paved hilly road

RESTROOMS: Near the beginning, end and during the bike ride.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.
