Limekiln at Porter Ranch – Short Version

We will meet at 6:30pm and start hiking promptly at 6:40.

This evening’s hike will be the short version of Limekiln which is perfect for beginners. It’s roughly 4 miles, out-and-back, with an elevation gain of about 500′.

Limekiln presents a variety of terrain and landscapes. So, be prepared for hiking asphalt and gravel roads, single track trails, hills, wooded areas, and crossing creeks. Limekiln is one of the areas devastated by recent fires, and although the green is returning, we will see the aftereffects.

We will stop at the turn-around point for a short break. On the way back, there is a possibility we may follow different trails but they all lead to the original which will get us to our starting point safe and sound.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
