Please review our guidelines to participate in our hikes. Restrictions apply for your safety and ours:
- Don’t show up unless you’re on the “Attending” list
- Unregistered or waitlisted will be turned away
- No “Plus Ones” on this hike
- Plan on completing the entire hike or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level. This is not a beginner hike!
- No dogs
**During warm weather Monte Nido is a little island of coolness. So this Tuesday we’ll be hiking a section of the Backbone Trail that runs through it. The trail is particularly pretty, and very shaded overall. We’ll meet at the pay parking lot on Malibu Canyon, just south of Piuma Rd. (There is some free parking nearby, and if you get there early, grab a spot if you’d like.) This is an out and back hike of 6 1/2 miles with 1100 elevation gain, and we can go further if cool enough. Bring plenty of water!!**
Bring sunscreen, plenty of water, and wear sturdy shoes and a sun hat. Please consider bringing trekking poles and the 10 essentials ().
Our departure time is 8:30 a.m. Please plan on arriving by 8:15 to get your boots and backpack on in time.
