BIKE RIDE TO “OJAI DAY” ACTIVITIES

I’m not into bicycling, but this is one event I have done the past eight years when the city of Ojai shuts down their main street and celebrates Ojai Day the third Saturday of October each year. So mark your calendar for this event because there’s lots of entertainment, arts & crafts and food (a tri tip sandwich in the beer gardens is a real treat for me after biking 9.5 miles). So plan on having lunch there or bring your own snacks. Oh, did I forget to mention checking out the belly dancers before heading back.

Check out the following web site for more info on Ojai Day: http://www.ojaiday.com/

This year we will schedule two different start locations. A shorter version (19 miles) that I will lead from Foster Park as posted below and a longer version (33 miles) that DaveR will lead from Ventura can be found here
(https://www.meetup.com/calabasasdayhikers/events/254781070/). (<- click to see it). Sign up for the one you’re interested in. Both groups will link up at 9:30 a.m. in Foster Park.

Make sure you bring along a spare inner tube.

There is no need to lock up the bikes there, since there is a bike check in area when we arrive.

MEETUP LOCATION: FOSTER PARK near the rest rooms along the bike path

TRAILHEAD WEATHER INFO: Click here for info (http://www.weather.com/weather/today/93023)

MEETUP DIRECTIONS FROM 101: There is parking in Foster Park on the west side where the 33 freeway ends, but there’s a fee for parking here. Instead, park under the freeway on Casitas Vista Rd. When northbound on the 33, take the N Ventura Ave exit (immediately before the freeway ends), turn right, and then right again almost immediately onto Casitas Vista. To get to Foster Park, continue another few hundred yards and turn right into the park.

If you have trouble finding us, call my cell# (PAUL TAYLOR) (805-358-5972).
