WTC Intro Hike to Henninger Flats

Fun, moderately-paced 6 miles round trip, 1400 ft gain hike on a fire road, the historic Mt Wilson Toll Road. Outstanding views of LA basin to a local gem of a destination. Learn about the Sierra Club’s Wilderness Travel Course (“WTC”) starting in January 2023 (West LA Area starts first on January 4th, other areas soon after, so register now!!), ask your questions, and maybe meet some future classmates! West LA area The WTC course will teach you how to be a better, safer hiker while also making new friends. Meet at 7:45 AM at the Pinecrest Gate, bring 2 qts water, hat, sun protection, a jacket and sturdy shoes to hike. (Heavy rain cancels.) Leader: Pamela Sivula. Co-Leader Chuck Currier


This is a Sierra Club hike. Participants are required to sign a waiver (sign-in sheet) and complete a short medical form at the trailhead in order to join the hike.

Please note: Vaccines are not required to participate in this event. You may be hiking with vaccinated and unvaccinated people; anyone may wear a mask if it makes them more comfortable. Please let your leaders know privately at the meeting point of any allergies or medical conditions you have that they should be aware of. If you are feeling unwell, please do not participate.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
