This is an optional day hike for people who want to spend an extra day after doing the Little Lakes Valley Trail event.
Length : at least 5 miles
Elevation gain: 1,463 feet
Elevation at Treasure Lakes: about 10,600 feet
Route type: Out & back
Rating: Strenuous
Pace: Moderate Pace
The plan: After doing the Little Lakes Valley Trail on Saturday, we head down to Highway 168 and sleep in our cars at night in the overnight parking area of the Bishop Pass Trailhead. On Sunday, we gather at 7:30 a.m. Then, we start our hike to Treasure Lakes at 8:00 a.m. After the hike we drive home.
ESSENTIALS:
2 Liters of water (although if one brings a water filtration system like the regular Sawyer squeeze, a 20 FL OZ bottle of water is enough)
Sunscreen
Hat
Snacks
Hiking Poles (Optional)
Layered clothing (possibly windy & chilly at the summit)
NOTE: This is considered a high altitude hike and high altitude sickness, AKA acute mountain sickness, is a possibility. Good Physical health is important.
PLEASE Know your limits and abilities. Bring and drink plenty of liquids when hiking. Check weather conditions and dress accordingly and be aware of your surroundings at all times. Watching out for snakes, ticks, uneven footing, spectacular views, beautiful fauna all while carrying on a conversation with awesome (usually) fellow hikers can be extremely hazardous, rewarding and fun.
