Join us on a fun stroll through the Simi foothills after all our recent rains… visiting THREE of the prettiest little unique canyons in Eastern Ventura County. Specially chosen trails are an eclectic mix of single-track, double-track, deer-track, ranch-road, fire-road, creek-bottom, rain-drain & spill-way 🙂
This dogbone-shaped Easier Intermediate route will take us on roughly 1200′ of Elevation Elation over this twisting & turning 7-mile Adventure.
HIGHLIGHTS:
We’ll visit some interesting Sites & Sights.. including a lovely wander through & above the Las Llajas Debris Dam Basin.. a Jurassic Jaunt to the Ta’apu Tribal Tarpits.. a charming Chivo/Marr creekside meander.. a breath-catching stop at the new TipTopToyon Bench– for expansive views of the Iceman’s Plunge & Rocky Peak Ridgelines.. a dappled-sunlight stroll under & through the Coastal Oaks Canyon canopy.. and finishing off with a snaky stumble up the Serpentine Stairs… and then a final ridge-line ramble back to our cars. A perfect morning.
DIRECTIONS:
Exit 118 at Yosemite Ave… and drive north 1.2 miles to Evening Sky Drive, observing all speed limits and stop signs (traffic enforcement can be enthusiastic in this neighborhood). Turn right on Evening Sky Drive.. proceed slowly over the several residential speed-bumps for about 1/2 mile… and watch for the Las Llajas Trailhead on the left (there is a small kiosk).
Parking
At or past trailhead, do a U-turn and park on the same side of the street, if possible. There is parking on the opposite side (more toward Yosemite), but ticketed if you’re in the wrong place …so be aware of signs.
Please do not leave anything of value in your car, at this or any other trailhead. The closest accessible restroom is at the McDonalds at the 118 / Yosemite interchange.
Essentials
Please bring: at least 1 liter+ of water, snacks, an extra layer, a charged cell phone, identification, and sunscreen and anything else you might need on the trail.
