Hike #10 in the 2026 Saturdays in the Santa Monica Mountains series is the Valley to the Sea, a strenuous 14 miles, 2800′ gain hike from the Valley to the Sea in memory of Willy Blumhoff with a stop at the Eagle Rock (1957′). This is a one-way hike with a car shuttle; it’s a variant of the one Willy took each year on his birthday. The hike will start at the Top of Reseda Trailhead, taking the Garapito Trail, summiting Eagle Rock, stopping at Trippet Ranch for lunch, and then taking the East Topanga Fire Road to Los Liones, ending at PCH and Sunset.
Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and a good attitude. Rain, excessive heat, or Red Flag alert cancels.
This is a Front Country hike. A medical form is recommended, but not required. If you have one, please carry it with you. Copies of the form will be available to fill out at the trailhead as well.
Outing to be conducted to Sierra Club hike safety guidelines, group to hike together with participants following the leader and in front of the sweep.
