San Luis Lighthouse and Tour via the Pecho Coast Trail, Avila Beach, SLO County

***Magical Weekend Experience – California’s golden central coast***

BEFORE YOU WILL BE MOVED TO THE GOING LIST, YOU WILL NEED TO DO THESE TWO THINGS:

1. UPDATE YOUR CDH PROFILE (The three questions must be answered with a “yes”) IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO. NEED HELP? Go to: https://wp.me/P9MbG4-hC
2. YOU **MUST REGISTER WITH PG&E TO RESERVE YOUR SPACE FOR THE HIKE**, OTHERWISE YOU WON’T BE PERMITTED ON THE TRAIL AND YOU WON’T SEE THE LIGHTHOUSE

I am spending the weekend in San Luis Obispo from Friday-Sunday (June 3-5) and you are invited to join me for two amazing hikes on California’s most beautiful coastline. You may want to stay a couple of nights, or just come up for the day for any of the hikes. If you plan to stay the weekend, you will need to find accommodations.

**Day 1 (Saturday)** Pecho Trail to the Lighthouse
(details below)

**Day 2 (Sunday)** Montero de Oro Bluff Trail
https://www.meetup.com/calabasasdayhikers/events/285214311/

We will hike Pecho Coast trail which is on private property owned by PG&E. The hike is free but it is **required to register** to get access, I’ve included detailed directions below.

We will meet at the Port San Luis Harbor parking lot entrance at 8:15 and start walking promptly at 8:30 to the Fisherman’s Memorial (statue with several dolphins) which is near the entrance. **The hike starts at 8:45 a.m.**

Starting from the Fisherman’s Memorial, we will take a docent-led hike to the gates of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, and onto the bluffs overlooking the San Luis Bay. The trail continues to the lighthouse where we will enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Coast. The Point San Luis Lighthouse keepers will take you on an optional docent-led interpretive tour ($10.00) into the rich history of the beautifully restored Lighthouse built in 1890

* **Masks are required at the lighthouse**
* **Dogs are not allowed on the trail or in the lighthouse**
* It takes a little more than an hour to reach the lighthouse

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
