Here’s a local hike in Calabasas that I have not done in a few years.
We’ll start off with a moderate but steady uphill trek for a little less than 1 mile. Then we’ll head down into Red Rock Canyon where we will find some wonderful sculptured sandstone formations in colors ranging from chalk white to a dark red. Many of the formations have fossils, caves and arches. We’ll, of course, scramble up to see the caves. On the way back we’ll take The Red Rock Trail, an in and out trail, which leads to the base of Ben’s Playground. It would be nice to find a way up to Split Rock.

MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: One mile marker on Stunt Road at 8:00am

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
