It’s still going to be a bit warm, and humid, but if we start at 8:30 I think we will be okay. We will go up the Ray Miller trail to the fire road and back, about 6 miles. This is an out and back so you can go at your own pace, but there will probably be another hike posted that will no doubt be faster than my hike. We’ll enjoy beautiful ocean views unless it’s foggy.
Lying along the brilliant blue Pacific Ocean at the west end of Malibu (just shy of Port Hueneme), the swelling blue ocean is rivaled in beauty by the undulating native California grasslands. On a clear day, the Channel Islands are easily within sight, although it is often foggy this time of year.
Most of the trail is exposed, bring sunscreen, hopefully there will be some clouds. It may be mosquito season so it’s up to you whether you should bring bug repellent.
We’ll meet in the parking lot near the Ray Miller Trailhead (look for the brilliant yellow sign). There is a parking fee in the lot (or free with state parking pass). There is free parking on PCH just a short walk to the parking area.
