Since the trail has been redesigned and is now about 8 1/2 miles, we will stop at Ventu Park Road for our break unless everyone wants to go on to Angel Vista. It will be warm, so we may slow the pace down a little.
AUGUST 2021 UPDATE: Please review the newly revised guidelines to participate in our hikes. We are again requiring proof of vaccination to join a hike. Here are some highlights and a link to the guidelines:
https://www.meetup.com/The-Weekday-Trailblazers/about/
PLEASE NOTE: For those of you not on the WTB vaccination list, you will be asked to show your vaccination card. (A photo on your phone is fine). No card: No hike.
- Don’t sign up unless you are two weeks past your 2nd vaccination
- Don’t show up unless you’re shown on the “Attending” list
- Unregistered or waitlisted will be turned away
- No “Plus Ones” on this hike
This is a moderately strenuous 7+ mile OAB conditioning hike. Starts at the Oak Creek Canyon Trailhead, and hiking through the Hope Nature Preserve along the Los Robles Trail. This section of the trail is also known as Space Mountain by the local mountain bikers because of all the antennas on one of the peaks along our climb. Keep your eyes and ears alert for bikers as they don’t always use the bells provided on the trail. Expect a moderate gain/ loss of 1400ft +/-. with open space views of the Conejo Valley, Hidden Valley, and the Pacific Ocean/ Channel Islands. We will stop at Ventu Park Rd. or at the Angel Vista rest stop/ picnic area to enjoy the views, take in a snack before heading back to the parking area.
