Gold Canyon trail has been recently restored by my trail Angel Sean & the Forest Service. It’s been closed since the 2009 Station fire and is now officially opened. I had the privilege of hiking this trail two weeks ago. Not only is it beautiful but it is overwhelmingly filled with wildflowers. So, I would like to share this newly restored trail with others before the wildflowers vanish.

We will start by scrambling down a use path off the main road. We will walk along the creek until we reach the Gold Canyon wash for about a mile, just before we start ascending the newly restored trail.

Along this route you will be rewarded with an array of wildflowers until we reach the Yerba Buena road. From here we will hike along the ridge to the high point then have snacks on the water tank.

We will have 360-degree views of Mt. Lukens and the surrouding the Tujunga mountains.

This hike is posted with another meetup group.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
