Hey Everyone,
It’s time to get some more elevation gain in or we (I) will never make it up Baldy. I’m not going to lie, the first mile to Mugu Peak will be difficult, but most of our elevation gain will be done. We are going to take it nice and slow because there’s still 8 miles to go. We will take some time to catch our breath at the top and take some photos. Then we’ll descend into La Jolla Valley Preserve to start our 4.5 mile loop. The loop is a mellow, relatively easy hike. We will pass some water crossings, a pond, wildflowers, and possibly some wildlife. We’ll make our way out of the valley and hike along the ridge for some ocean views before (slowly) making our way back down the steep hill to our cars. Bug spray, long pants, and poles are highly recommended for this hike. I have attached the AllTrails link for stats, directions, and photos. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mugu-peak-to-la-jolla-nature-preserve?u=i&sh=aoxfvb
