Long Canyon Loop is approximately 6.4 miles and is a moderately trafficked loop trail located near Simi Valley in the Lang Ridge Open Space area.
Disclaimer: This is a well known trail to some, but it will be my first time hiking this trail from this trailhead so I will be consulting my map often.
Directions: At the corner of Long Canyon Road and S. Wood Ranch Parkway. From Highway 118, take the First St. exit and go south for 4.5 miles. Along the way, First St. becomes Long Canyon Road. Follow it to the junction with S. Wood Ranch and continue onto Bannister Way. Turn left into the parking lot. From Highway 23, take the Olsen Road exit and go northeast for 1.9 miles to Wood Ranch Parkway. (Olsen becomes Madera Road en route). Turn right on Wood Ranch and go 1.9 miles to the junction with Long Canyon Road. Turn right onto Bannister and left into the parking lot.
Distance: 6.4 miles
Elevation gain: 1,400 feet
We should be finished in 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
