Now that the kids are back in school we’ve got our beaches back, so let’s head for Leo Carrillo State Beach and hike a couple of miles early in the morning above the coast and then cool down at the beach below.

PARKING: You can either park in the state park and pay for parking or park for free, where permitted, on PCH.

MEET UP LOCATION AND TIME: Leo Carrillo State Beach at 8:00 am

DURATION: 3 hours

DISTANCE COVERED: 2 miles of trail and at least 1 mile on the beach, rocks and tide pools

PACE: An easy pace for strong beginner hikers

ELEVATION GAIN: 600′ +

LEVEL: Advanced beginner hike
