HWD Ranch – Mormon Canyon Loop

Another HWD Original!

The HWD Ranch is located within the stunning Hidden Creeks parkland near the confluence of Browns Creek and Mormon Creek. The parkland provides a key migration corridor and perennial water source to a full complement of large mammals including black bear, mountain lion, mule deer, bobcat, American badger, grey fox, long-tailed weasel, ring-tailed cat, and the endangered California Condor.

Nature won’t be the only thing we’ll experience. We may get a chance to meet Ferdinand, a bull that roams the area and a couple of wild horses. There are lots of old artifacts to explore along the way, including old ranch houses, abandoned ranch vehicles, a dam and much more! So expect a lot of stops along the way.

HIKE IS ABOUT 6 MILES WITH ABOUT 1,000 FT TOTAL ASCENT AND IS RATED MEDIUM . SEE THE HIKE RATING GUIDE

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
