Hiking 8 miles RT to Wildrose Peak in Death Valley Planning Stage

PRELIMINARY!!!!!!! Date is not firm! Depends on roads, weather snow and the lockdown Wildrose Road to the Charcoal Kilns is 2 miles of gravel road. I also plan to hike Telescope Peak a couple of days later.

This is a “no host” hike. There will be no leader, sweep or otherwise. If you’re at the trailhead when we leave, and you want to hike together – great!

MEETUP TIME: 7am.
MEETUP PARKING FEE: Fee to Enter in DV
DISTANCE: 8.4+ miles RT GAIN: 2200′
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: single track (unmarked)
THE PACE: 1.5 mph average pace
LEVEL: Intermediate and above

Length: 8.4 miles out and back
Time: 6 hours round trip.
Difficulty: Difficult
Elevation Gain: 2,200 ft (671m)
Location: From CA-190 follow Emigrant Canyon Road past the Wildrose Campground to the parking area at the Charcoal Kilns. The final 2 miles is a maintained gravel surface typically passable in a sedan. 25 ft vehicle limit.
Parking: 25 ft vehicle limit. Open gravel area.
Closest Restroom: Vault toilet in parking area. No restroom along the trail

CDC COVID POLICY: We’ll all wear a mask and practice CDC social distancing guidelines during this event. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD HAVE YOU EXCLUDED FROM MY EVENTS IN THE FUTURE.
