Hike the Parks: Joshua Tree Presentation

Hosted by Scott Turner: Author and Modern Hiker

Join Scott Turner, contributing author for Modern Hiker and author of Hike the Parks: Joshua Tree National Park, for an informative discussion on all things Joshua Tree. Scott Turner, a contributing author for Modern Hiker and co-author of Afoot and Afield San Diego County, got his first taste of Joshua Tree during a midnight excursion to view the Leonid meteor shower. Since then, he’s visited Joshua Tree dozens of times, exploring nearly every nook and cranny of the park. Now he’s compiled his knowledge of the park into a full-color, beautifully composed, pocket-sized volume, Hike the Parks: Joshua Tree National Park. Join Scott for an informative discussion on all things Joshua Tree to get the lowdown on everything you need to know to have a great time at the park, including where to hike, when to visit, where to stay, how to beat the crowds, and what to do when you get a little too cuddly with a teddy bear cholla.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
