Details

Our loopy hike will begin at the Vanowen St trail head for El Escorpión Park. We’ll head west along a dry creek until we enter the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Preserve where we turn south toward Ahmanson Ranch. We’ll soon arrive at our destination atop a peak overlooking the West San Fernando Valley

Hike will be appx 3.75 miles total with about 600 feet total ascent.

Hike is rated MEDIUM due to terrain. See the hike rating guide here: https://www.hikingwithdean.com/hike-rating-guide/

This hike is suitable for fit beginners

Bring some adult beverages to share and food for yourself (or share). Please bring your own cups and plates.

👉NO WHITE LIGHTS ALLOWED ON HIKE. Green and/or red lights are ok (but lights will probably not be needed since the area will be well lit by the moon). If you require a white light then this hike is not for you. Get one of these and stuff it into your backpack for future night hikes. https://amzn.to/2E9Fb30. (emergencies excepted, of course)

🍺🍹 Don’t forget to bring something cold to drink for the peak top

NOTE: YOU SHOULD WEAR A MASK OR FACE COVERING WHERE SOCIAL DISTANCING IS IMPOSSIBLE OR IMPRACTICAL. BRINGING A MASK OR FACE COVERING IS MANDATORY FOR ATTENDING THIS HIKE.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
