This event has TWO options . . . (or three).
Option ONE:
Camping Fri and Sat Night, and Hiking on Sat
The itinerary:
Fri (eve):
- Arrive AFTER 3 PM
- Campfire hangout at the site
- OR
- Dinner in town at Julian Beer Co should have live music
- OR
- do both.
Sat:
- We drive to The Slot and hike it. (it’s short) . . . then
- Drive to and thru the Galleta Meadows outdoor art installations. (get out and take pix) . . . then
- Drive to and hike the Calcite Mine Slot Canyon . . . then
- Drive back thru Galeta Meadows as catch the afternoon light. . . . then
- Drive back to camp OR stop in Julian again at different bar.
OPTIONAL if you have a 4×4 Font’s Point between #3 and #4
Sunday: (if you take the long way home)

East Jesus
Bombay Beach
The International Banana Museum (if open)

Sunday OTHER OPTION:

Q What do I need to bring?
Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad. Basics of food. and two bundles of firewood.
It’s a free event . . . I am not providing firewood this time.
Q What about food?
Bring your own and cook your own. That way it is what you like. It’s a free event . . . you were really expecting I bring the food too?
You can eat in town at Julian too.
Q I want to go but don’t think I am strong enough to do both hikes.
NEITHER of these are difficult hikes.
Q I don’t camp OR I have not camped OR I am a newbie camper. Is this a good start?
This one is a bit colder. But you will be OK. Just bring extra blankets.

There are vault near our site, and flush more of a distance away.
Question: Can I bring a campervan or RV? NO
Question . . . Can I sleep in my car?
Not at this site. It’s tent camping.
Question: Is my car next to my tent?
No Cars are in one place. And you need to walk into the camping area. There is an obstacle in the way. Cars are not on the campsite at all.

- Volcan Mountain Winery, located about 2 miles from downtown Julian. With a vineyard and a cozy tasting room.
- Menghini Winery. They produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling, Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah.
