With all the rains we’ve had lately, I want to finish this Year off with a hike to Escondido Falls. Expect it to be crowded and muddy.
“When Escondido Falls is flowing strong, it is flat out one of the finest waterfalls around Los Angeles. The waterfall has an easy-to-reach lower tier that is 50 feet tall and a hard-to-reach upper tier that’s 150 feet tall and stunning in optimum conditions.” Hikespeak
It’ll be too muddy to attempt to-reach the upper tier, so we’ll just have to enjoy it from down below.
Dogs, with well behaved owners on leashes, are welcome on this hike.
Both will be muddy by the end of the hike!!!
OPTION: As an option, I might head out to see Zuma Falls after this hike which is a few miles away.

MEETUP PARKING FEE: $8 fee at small “marked” parking lot on Winding Way. Should this lot be full, then park where parking is legal on PCH.
DISTANCE: About 4 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: About 400 feet
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Single track trail, road, poison oak and several creek crossings.
THE PACE: Moderate, steady slow pace.
DURATION: About 3 hours.
SUGGESTION: Bring a change of shoes and socks to change in after the hike. Bring trekking poles for stability in mud and creek crossings
