We will start hiking on the Lower San Merril, then go off trail scrambling up to Echo Mtn. Here we will take a short break.
Then, we’ll contnue on the middle San Merrill for a couple of miles before we go off trail again ascending a use path to the old amphitheatre ridge leading us to Inspiration Point. This will be our lunch break as we admire the views under that veranda.

FYI: Along the ampitheatre ridge route (just before we reach IP) you wll see gorgeous views of Brown Mountain, surrounding peaks of the San Gabes and beautiful red rock formations.

After the break we will descend Castle Cyn and head back to our cars via the San Merrill trail.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
