Details
Eagle Rock, the most impressive landmark in all of Topanga State Park, will afford us an airy perch overlooking the upper watershed of Santa Ynez Canyon and the ocean beyond. We will snack and explore on this impressive sandstone rock covered with crevices and caves.
We’ll be going a different route than most of you veterans have used so be prepared for some pleasant surprises. We’ll start at Trippet Ranch parking lot and end outside the ranch on Entrada Rd for a loop. Our trip to the rock will traverse a seldom used trail across a large meadow, through tall chaparral and a shady oak forest, and up along Cheney Ridge.
Here is a video highlighting our route
🥂Bring a sack lunch, booze to share, and we’ll have a picnic on The Rock
Directions:
From Topanga Canyon Boulevard, turn east on Entrada Road; that’s to the left if you are coming from the San Fernando Valley. Follow Entrada Road by turning left at every opportunity until you arrive at Topanga State Park.
Park on street before the last left turn and be sure that your left wheels are inside the white line. Note posted parking restrictions. Walk the rest of they way into Trippet Ranch and we’ll meet inside the park by at the benches by bathrooms.
The official hike will end on the street near where you parked (if you end up parking in pay lot let me know near end of hike)
I’ll bring a bottle of white wine
don’t forget to read the hike description. this will be a difficult hike. know your limits and expect the unexpected.
