PLEASE NOTE: We will meet under the solar panels and NOT by the tennis courts.
This hike is in addition to the longer hike on Tuesday, but we will be shorter and slower.
Restrictions apply for your safety and ours:
- Don’t show up unless you’re on the “Attending” list
- Unregistered or waitlisted will be turned away
- No “Plus Ones” on this hike
This hike will loop around the periphery of Dos Vientos, passing Twin Ponds, overlooking Potrero Road and the Oxnard Plain with the Channel Islands in the background. We will cross 2 streets along the way.
This hike is about 5.0 miles with 800 feet of elevation gain.
Pace: This is a gentler friendly hike. We will go at a slightly slower pace than the Intermediate Trailblazer Hike, and we will finish in 2 1/2 hours. Faster hikers are welcome to join us so long as they are willing to hike at the slower pace of the group or wait at the forks on the trail. There are many confusing side trails in Dos Vientos so I will mark the trail if necessary, but I ask that everyone plan to stay in contact with the group.
Please note this trail is very exposed (no shade) and there is no water along the way.
DIRECTIONS: From the 101 Freeway in Newbury Park, exit at Borchard Road. Drive 3.4 miles and turn into the Dos Vientos Community Park on the right, just after Via Ricardo (and before Via Las Brisas). Meet by the solar panels to the right.
If you are coming from the NW, exit Wendy and turn left on Wendy and then a right on Borchard to Dos Vientos Community Park.
