Charmlee Wilderness Park is one of the most picturesque areas in the Santa Monica Mountains and the perfect place to take beginning hikers for a taste of the region. The park includes shady picnic areas (I hope this survived after the fire), majestic ocean views, nine miles of hiking trails, and an amphitheater. Spring time brings out many wild flowers in its meadows.
There is a $4 or $5/car parking fee.
We’ll cover at least half the 9 miles of trails that this small park offers. It’s perfect for beginners or those looking for an easy hike. After we return to the cars, as an option, we can use the picnic tables there to have lunch.

MEETUP TIME AND LOCATION: 9:00 a.m. at 2577 S. Encinal Canyon Road. You’ll need to exit Encinal Canyon Rd. onto Carmihael Rd. and drive about a quarter mile to the parking area.
