Please read these restrictions before signing up.

  • Don’t sign up unless you are two weeks past your 2nd vaccination
  • Don’t show up unless you’re shown on the “Attending” list
  • Unregistered or waitlisted will be turned away

We will go to our overlook on Boney for a beautiful 360 degree viewpoint. We will have a good time hiking through the area and get a great workout. This hike will be a fast-paced, moderately strenuous 7 mile trek with an elevation gain of 1,200+ ft, through the Conejo historic Danielson Ranch area. We will be taking the standard route (no Fossil Trail). We may or may not get back back before dark, so please pack a head lamp or flashlight. We will get some killer views of the 1000 Oaks and Newbury Park areas as well as Point Mugu and even the Channel Islands and Pacific Ocean on a clear day. Looking forward to seeing you there!

DIRECTIONS:

Take Highway 101 to Thousand Oaks. Exit at Wendy Drive. Go south (towards the ocean) on Wendy all the way until it dead ends at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. There is ample free parking on the dirt along Potrero Road. There are no restrooms at the trailhead.

Essentials :

This time of year you don’t need much, but make sure you bring a comfortable amount of H2O (1-2 liters for most of my hikes). Dress yourself with So Cal Hiking attire, and be willing to get a good workout! Bring your cellphone, a headlamp, any medications you may need, and a rain jacket if the weather looks iffy.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
