Join us for a weekend adventure into the remote Eagle Mountains in the desert of NE Riverside County. We’ll start at the Lost Palms Oasis Trailhead and travel cross-country through open desert terrain to our backcountry camp. This is a dry camp, so all water needed for the trip must be carried in. On Sunday, we’ll continue cross-country through canyons and rugged desert terrain to the summit of Eagle Mountain (5,527’), including a Class 2 scramble along the way. After enjoying the summit, we’ll return to camp, break down our tents, and head back to the trailhead.
This area is where the Mojave and Colorado Deserts meet, creating a landscape of rugged mountains, washes, and distinctive desert vegetation. And there’s an extra treat for this overnight: we’ll be camping under a new moon! Joshua Tree is an International Dark Sky Park and is known for some of the darkest skies in Southern California, making this an excellent opportunity for stargazing and, weather permitting, catching a spectacular view of the Milky Way.
The trip is approximately 9 miles, to and from, with about 2,700’ gain.
Level: Strenuous (I Rated)
Cost: $30 park entrance fee per vehicle. None if you have an America the Beautiful Pass or similar.

Recommended Items: 10 Essentials, shoes with good traction and any needed personal prescription medication. NOTE: This will be a dry camp and all water must be carried in ; 6-8 liters of water recommended.
Signup Restrictions: If you are sick or have been in contact with anyone with viral symptoms, please do not attend this outing.
