Description: LOCAL EASY HIKE FOR BEGINNERS AND FAMILIES
Come join us as we explore this gorgeous canyon trail slowwwwwly. This trail is a favorite with lots of shade, giant old oak trees, a sulfur spring, and a waterfall reward at the end! We stop for wildflowers, stream crossings, and just generally to enjoy the scenery. The first part of the trail is wide and flat, and as the canyon narrows so does the trail. At 305ft elevation gain, you hardly feel it except for a couple of hills. There are several gentle water crossings so bring hiking sticks and be prepared for ankle-deep water. We will stop along the way to discuss hiking safety, point out various flowers, plants and generally get you out in nature safely. Children of all ages (0-99) welcome, babies in backpacks are great, but this trail is not suitable for strollers. Bring plenty of water and a snack. Dogs are welcome, but must be well-behaved and always on a leash.
Please note that you may NOT go ahead of our slow-paced leader on this hike, unless you sign out. Also, if you choose to head back to your car at any point, you MUST sign out with the sweep.
We will meet in the gravel parking lot near the Whitney Canyon sign at 8:00 am.

ALL TRAILS REVIEW SUMMARY:
Reviewers of Whitney Canyon Falls Trail in Newhall, California, rave about the full waterfall and beautiful scenery, mentioning the fun water crossings and multiple waterfall levels with ropes for climbing. Many hikers suggest bringing poles for stream crossings, and note that the trail can be easy, moderate, or difficult depending on how far you go. Recent conditions include lots of water and 10x snake sightings. The trail is considered crowded by some, with multiple shallow swimming holes and easy climbs if ropes are used. Typically in May, this area may have increased water flow due to spring conditions and lush greenery, with the potential for slippery rocks and water crossings.
