Tehachapi Mountain Hike, lunch, and Mountain Festival

Join us for this up and back hike in Tehachapi Park. This hike doesn’t include the very steep last three quarter mile to the peak. Once we arrive at the junction for the turnoff to the peak there will be the option to go back or continue down the trail for another 1 to 2 miles. If you choose to go back at the junction it will be about a 4 plus mile up and back hike. If you continue on it will be around 6-8 miles with about an 1,500 foot elevation gain. The hike both up to the junction and beyond are both steady climbs so this hike is not for beginners but it can easily be done for someone who exercises regularly and is accustomed to moderate hikes. Since the trail is actually a dirt road it is the perfect hike for socializing and getting to know others. After the hike for those who would like to join me, (which is not required) we will eat lunch at Kohen’s Bakery in Tehachapi. After lunch those who are interested can join me at Philip Marx Central Mark for the annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival which is the largest local event of the year featuring arts, crafts, music, food, and fun for the entire family. If you are from Bakersfield we will meet at Starbucks on Weedpatch highway, just off highway 58 at 7:15 if you are interested in carpooling. If you don’t want to carpool or you are coming from somewhere outside of Bakersfield you can meet us at the trailhead by following Google Maps to the Nuooah Nature Trail trailhead. Hopefully we should arrive at the trailhead sometime around 8:30. Hope you can join us for what should be a great day of hiking, food, and fun…Bill

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
