Mount San Jacinto stands 10,834 feet above sea level and is the second highest mountain range in Southern California. No more than a two hour drive from either Los Angeles or San Diego, the mountain’s magnificent granite peaks, subalpine forests, and fern-bordered mountain meadows offer a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy a scenic, high-country wilderness area.
Itinerary
Sat:
7:30 am Meet at Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, then take the tram to Upper Tram Terminal. Goal is to get on the first tram at 8:00
- We will hike about 2.5 miles to Round Valley and setup basecamp.
- We will then day hike to San Jacinto Peak
Sun:
- 8-9am Break down camp and head back to Tram Terminal.
Gear and Equipment: Please be sure you are properly prepared for this trip including all necessary and properly working gear, good quality and broken in hiking shoes, backpack with proper support, tent, sleeping bag and pad, food, water, filtration, and all other necessary items for a weekend backpacking trip.
