Road Trip, “Camp and Hike”, Kennedy Meadows

Serious RSVPs Only.

Let’s Road Trip! πŸžοΈπŸš™………..πŸ’¨

Friday June 2 to Sunday June 4, 2023

πŸš™πŸ•οΈ We will be camping at Kennedy Meadows Campground, Inyo National Forest.

β›ΊThe campground is no-reservation, first-come and is usually $8-12 per night. Each camping participant is to get their own space or share with a small group. Currently the website is showing no fee but probably a seasonal posting. Will confirm. Bring cash πŸ’΅.

Plan to arrive Friday afternoon or send someone in your small group to reserve your site. 6 per site.

🏞️ Saturday hike will be north along the PCT/South Fork of the Kern River.

🌌 Plan on a night hike for Saturday night.

Firm itinerary coming. πŸ“‹βœοΈ

πŸ₯ͺ🍷 Meals are on your own. You can bring everything or boil water for oatmeal, etc.

I plan to bring a no-cook dinner for Friday at camp, easy no-cook breakfast πŸ₯― and hiking snacks and lunch πŸ₯ͺ for Saturday. No-cook Sunday breakfast.

Saturday night after the hike we can go to the Grumpy Bear 🐻 for dinner.

There is also the Kennedy Meadows General store nearby πŸ›’.

Bring your own camping gear such as tent β›Ί, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, flashlight πŸ”¦, headlamp, stove, camp chair, etc.

🚽 Toilets are pit-style, no flush.

πŸ’¦ Bring drinking water 🚰.

I’m bringing my hiking dog πŸ•, Timber. Other dogs OK if leashed and nice to Timber.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
