Rae Lakes via Kearsarge and out Baxter Pass

MORE DETAILS AND PHOTOS WILL BE POSTED LATER. For moderately to advanced backpackers due to the longer mileage, several passes, and extreme steepness and unmaintained nature of Baxter Pass Trail.
This hike requires us to shuttle vehicles between Onion Valley and Baxter trailheads.

Friday:
Kearsarge Pass to Glen Pass, to Middle Rae Lake (~12.5 miles, 4K feet of gain, 2600’ loss).

Saturday:
explore 60 Lakes Basin, camp at Middle Rae Lake again (4 miles, 780’ gain, 800’ loss one way x2, so 8 miles total. OR hike 1.5 miles further downhill 300’ to Arrowhead/Dollar Lakes which are also very beautiful).

Sunday:
hike PCT to Baxter Pass Trail, Baxter Lake, up and down Baxter Pass, to camp at Summit Meadow (9 miles, 2,300’ gain and 2,900’ loss).

Monday:
exit Baxter Pass Trail (4.5 miles downhill ~4,000’ loss)

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.
