Oak Creek Canyon Trail is a rather special trail in Los Robles Open Space that is designed for the blind as well as the sighted. The all-access trail is shaded by a canopy of oaks, while the loop trail spends more time in the chaparral. The trails form a U-shape that is connected by hiking a tenth of a mile on Greenmeadow Avenue.
We will start at Oak Creek Canyon and proceed to a connector trail a short distance until we meet a junction with Los Robles Trail East. Along this big loop, you’ll travel through a couple of very nice oak groves, and get some great views throughout the Los Robles (along the Los Robles Overlook/Scenic View Loop) and Los Padres trails encompassed in the Robles Open Space. There is a very short section along streets/sidewalks when we return back to the latter part of Oak Creek Canyon Trail and complete the big loop.
This hike will be a five-mile loop with about a 900’ elevation gain/loss.
Direction: From the 101 freeway, drive to the south end of Moorpark Rd, turn right on Greenmeadow Ave., and go a half mile to the parking lot.
