About the Event

With an enormously significant appeals hearing happening on March 20th, the community has one last chance to influence the decision by showing how much we care for Our KERN. We’re going to march from the Panorama Bluffs to the Park at Riverwalkthe length of Bakersfield’s dry RIVER.

8AM Full River March (9 miles)
Join the dedicated who will march every foot of Bakersfield’s dry river, protesting the current state of an entirely diverted river. March starts at the Panorama Bluffs. Lunch will be provided for this group. Please also RSVP on the Bring Back the Kern website so you can be counted for lunch. https://www.bringbackthekern.org/event-details/march-for-the-river-full-distance-9-miles-3

1PM Home Stretch (0.75 miles)
Meet up with the full river marchers and walk the final mile from Calloway Bridge to the Park at Riverwalk (Just north of La Costa Mariscos). This distance is appropriate for any age or fitness level. People are encouraged to wear water toys and come early to make a sign for the march. This Meetup will not organize this hike, but you can RSVP on the Bring Back the Kern website so you can be counted and hike with the other Home Stretch Hikers. https://www.bringbackthekern.org/event-details/march-for-the-river-home-stretch-0-75-miles

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
