Hike to Black Star Canyon Falls – Santa Ana Mountains

I love this hike and everyone seems to have a good time, so let’s do it again! There should be a good amount of water, so you will get wet.

The hike will be 8-8.5 miles with 940 ft. of elevation gain. The hike starts on an asphalt road, but once we turn to the creek path, which is about 2 miles in, there will be some water crossings, and rock/boulder climbing. This hike is quite the adventure, so please be prepared to get wet, try to avoid poison oak (it is everywhere, so wear long pants/long sleeves), and use upper and lower body strength. At the end, there is a waterfall which is awesome! All of the fun is in getting there though.

There is lots of poison oak! Wear long pants and long sleeves.

Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, snacks, hiking boots, poles, a hat, and whatever else you may need for this adventure!

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
