We did this one recently with Jim and it was so great we really need to do it again. This trip will have a different lunch destination.
We meet up in the parking lot near the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. We proceed south on Crystal Springs Drive into the suburban hills above Los Feliz Blvd and then make our way near the Greek Theater onto the (car closed) paved Vista Del Valle Drive that snakes up into the hills. Vista Del Valle takes us past Cedar Grove, the Helipad, Bee Rock,
the Griffith Observatory, the Haunted Picnic Table, Cathy’s Corner, Royce’s Canyon and finally down to Griffith Park Drive. We wind our way to Crystal Springs Drive and head north to the LA River for a sojourn down the dedicated bike path taking us to the Los Feliz Cafe for lunch before returning to our cars.
Make sure you bring along a spare inner tube.
MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: 10am. In Griffith Park at Parking Lot #1 just above and south of the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round.

DISTANCE: 26 miles. The route says 21 because it doesn’t include the side trip to the Griffith Observatory.

LUNCH: The Los Feliz Cafe – we’ll be biking to it.
THE PACE: No faster than the slowest in the group
DURATION: 4 hours
LEVEL: Advanced Beginner Ebiker
TERRAIN: Road bike lanes, dedicated bike paths, low volume traffic roads
RESTROOMS: Restroom at the start (next to the Merry-Go-Round) and then one is available at about 13 miles into our route.
