Our third Falll 2025 Backbone Trail outing in the Santa Monica Mountains will be an 11 mile, 3000 gain outing from the Backbone Trail at Malibu Creek Trailhead to the Newton Canyon Trailhead. The BBT will take us through Newton, Corral, and Latigo Canyons. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and a good attitude. Rain, excessive heat, or Red Flag alert cancels.
This is a Sierra Club hike, so participants must sign in, carry their medical form, and hike between the leader and sweep. We ask you to print it out and carry it with you, but the form will be available at the trailhead as well or you can download the form here. http://bitly.com/scmedicalform
TRAILHEAD LOCATION: We will meet at 8:00 AM at the Newton Canyon Trailhead lot (on PCH take Kanan Dume Road 4 miles north, just past first tunnel on left or from Ventura Freeway take Kanan Dume Road 8 miles south).
CAR SHUTTLE: From the meeting point we will car shuttle 12 miles using Mulholland Highway to the Backbone Trail at Malibu Creek Trailhead.
