Just a heads up: Please and thank you for being considerate and cancelling with enough time to give someone on the waitlist a chance to hike! Otherwise, you may no longer be allowed to hike with me.
Masks are mandatory as we gather at the trailhead!
I am posting this because I cannot keep up with Kim! We will start in a slightly different spot than Kim, but end up at the same place, at the top of Conejo Mountain. Basically, this is my Powerline Hike with a detour to the top of the mountain.
We will start on the Powerline Trail until it reaches the much wider Edison Conejo Mountain Road, marked by sets of power line transmission towers. We will be hiking from tower to tower. After turning around at the end of the trail, we will detour on a little side trail to the top of Conejo Mountain before heading down again. The views are pretty amazing from the top of the mountain. Hopefully, we will see a nice sunset on the descent.
This trail is a bit on the long, steep side and the mountain can get quite brown and barren. But the rock formations are pretty cool, and get more interesting the higher you climb. On the way up, we should be able to catch some of the outstanding views, from Boney Mountain to the south to the Channel Islands and Oxnard Plain to the west and Thousand Oaks to the east.
If you want to bring snacks to share, please consider Covid and bring individually wrapped items, so people aren’t dipping into the same bags or containers.
