Bushwhacking Hellhole

This is an exploratory trip. The plan is to hike up Hellhole Canyon and past Maidenhair Falls to the 30 foot waterfall described in Afoot and Afield. It must be pretty gnarly since the description appears to have been removed from the latest edition. There is a campsite described in the book. We may also check out Hellhole flats. On Sunday we’ll hike out to Culp Valley campground and back down the California Riding and Hiking trail.
I don’t think parking is allowed at the trailhead so we’ll have to start in town (see location).
Needless to say this is a trip for people who enjoy bushwhacking and are comfortable scrambling over rocks, trees, vines, etc.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
