Hello Fellow Hikers,
Your in for a treat if you have never hiked this trail. Will be starting our hike out of Malibu Creek State Park. Will be passing through the Mash and Planet of the Apes filming locations. Will also be taking some side trails to see both Century Lake and Rock Pond so expect our hike to be closer to 16 miles and our elevation gain closer to 3200-3400 ft. Will eventually come onto the Bulldog trail and will start our huffing and puffing (that will be me) there. The trail will take us to the a portion of the Backbone trail which is one of the most unige sections of the Backbone. Will be going up and on some of the rock formations (no climbing required) It will feel and look like you’re now in AZ or New Mexico. Will also take a quick side trail (if I can remember it) to Jim Morrison’s (from the Doors) secret spot where he wrote all his music. Will finally start our descent down a Canyon on the other side of the Mountain were we will start looping back. Some reviews stated it was hard to find the trail back at the last portion to there cars so they walked a short distance on the road but we will try to stay on trails only but just noted incase. We are also gonna start our hike out of Malibu Creek State Park as it accommodates more vehicles and the starting point on AllTrails only accommodates about 8 cars and it is a very popular spot as it has no fee. Malibu Creek State Park is a $10 fee. If you would like to find road parking which is free or start at the AllTrails spot please just make your way into MCSP and will be waiting at the restrooms next to the parking lot. Please note this is a hard trail and not suited for beginner hikers. I have attached the AllTrails link for pics, and stats: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/california/bulldog-loop?mobileMap=false&ref=sidebar-static-map
