O: Bird Walk/WTC Intro Hike
Join us for a leisurely paced hike around the wetlands on a looped trail and birdwatching hotspot. Over 200 species of birds visit and depend on this wetland annually. One of the Leaders will provide an overview of the Wilderness Travel Course (WTC), which begins January 2025 (www.wildernesstravelcourse.org). Subjects include safe mountain travel, map & compass and wilderness first aid. Hike begins with an introduction to the reserve and WTC overview including free Sierra Club Ten Essentials Cards. Easy hike with a stop halfway thru. The trail surface is gravel or a natural surface (dirt, rocks). There are benches along the route. Bathrooms are available in the South parking lot at the trailhead. Please no dogs or bicycles. Bring water, and wear boots/shoes with good tread. A few extra binoculars will be available for those without.
