Autumn Ridge – Long Canyon Intermediate Hike

Please review the guidelines to participate in our hikes. Here are some highlights and a link to the guidelines.

Restrictions apply for your safety and ours:

  • Don’t show up unless you’re on the “Attending” list
  • No “Plus Ones” on this hike
  • Plan on sticking with the group, and completing the entire hike at a reasonable pace or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level.

This hike covers some familiar ground, but also adds a section that we haven’t done in a long time.

We will start at the Autumn Ridge trailhead and take the Autumn Ridge Trail to the Long Canyon East trail. We will take the Long Canyon East Trail to the end. We will then take the Montgomery Trail until it loops back and intersects with the Long Canyon East Trail. Unfortunately, we will have to go back uphill on the Long Canyon East Trail until it intersects with the Autumn Ridge Trail. We will then return to the cars on the Autumn Ridge Trail.

This lollipop hike will be about 7 miles with approximately 1500 feet gain.

The weather looks fairly cool, but as always, be prepared for little shade, bring water, and due to the occasional steep sections, you may want to bring your trekking poles.

DISCLAIMER / RELEASE OF LIABILITY

The hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group. Safety should be a priority for everyone in the group. Please treat this meet-up as hiking with a group of friends. If you become fatigued and unable to continue the hike, it is expected you will advise the hike host of this and return to our starting point on your own. If you are able to proceed, it is expected that you will maintain line of sight with other members of the group at all times and help to promote the group’s safety and fitness goals.

Your personal safety depends on your own judgment and experience. You agree that you can navigate back to your transportation by yourself, and agree to do so if you fall behind and lose track of the main body of hikers.

There are no “Plus One’s” on this hike. If you want to bring someone along, have them sign up, and make sure they’re aware of, and agree to, this disclaimer.

All participants must be 18 or older, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
