We’ve been doing this one in Chatsworth/Twin Lakes since 2009. It’s the scariest hike this side of Transylvania!
Due to ongoing development in the area our exact path is unknown at this time, but I estimate it to be about 3 miles with 700′ elevation gain. I will have more accurate figures after pre-scouting the area.
The decorations are a little worn and I don’t know if the solar lights are still working, but it will be a fun hike. There is a nice spot where we can share some drinks and small bites — so bring the “good stuff”
And remember NO WHITE LIGHTS – red or green only. There is still time to order one of these headlamps – one uses batteries, the other is rechargeable. Both are red/green/white.

DIRECTIONS
Our parking and meetup spot is on a new-homes construction site. The streets are paved and the lots are marked, but there are no homes built yet. Its easy to get to, however, some of the streets are so new, they are not on some maps (or GPS) yet, so pay attention to these directions!
21600 Poema Pl is an address 1/4 mile east the parking area. The Meetup map works on Android (Google maps) and takes you to parking area via Canoga Ave.
If you are using iPhone or car GPS, you may need the following directions, or type in the coordinates 34.279504, -118.600623
🚗From Canoga Ave – go north on Canoga Ave past the 118. Bear right and enter the Deerlake Ranch development; head uphill and make a left on Poema Pl. Go past the 21600 address, cross the bridge (that will be the 2nd bridge you cross), then turn right into the construction site for Crestley/Landsea Homes. Park in cul de sac to the right
🚙From Topanga Cyn Blvd – go north on Topanga past the 118. Turn right on Poema Pl, but don’t go all the way to 21600. Before the bridge turn left into Crestley/Landsea Homes construction site. Park in cul de sac on right.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.
Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
