10K – 100K Hike — Wirebreak – Santa Ynez Canyon Loop – Lunch at Reel Inn

November 16, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

This hike will mark a milestone in HWD history. We now have over 10,000 members and I estimate 100,000 hiker-miles! Woohoo! πŸŽ‰

Join our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/hikingwithdean/

We begin the hike by traveling south along Santa Ynez Creek, climb a steep ridge to E. Topanga Fireroad, skirt Trippet ranch and return via a descent down into Santa Ynez Canyon. Santa Ynez Canyon features chilly mountain pools, several beautiful waterfalls, and slim sandstone cliffs set in a cool oasis of lush oak and sycamore forests.

There will be a 1,000′ elevation gain between the 1.0 and 1.5 mile mark — you have been warned! Loop is 7.3 miles with total ascent of about 1700′.

Hike Rating

Hike is rated DIFFICULT due to terrain. See the Hike Ratings Guide

The No Fire-roads Rule will be in effect!

Trail statistics are approximate.Β  For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
