SUMMARY:Wind Wolves Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Hello Fellow Hikers\,\nTime for a road trip! Will be spending the day at the Wind Wolves Preserve. As we have a good drive ahead of us we will make the most of the day with the goal to hike four separate trails\, no need to worry only two are rated moderate (on the easier moderate side) the others are rated easy. there will be four separate trails listed. Okay springtime is the most dramatic season to visit\, Wind Wolves explode in a firework display of colorful mule-ears\, poppies\, lupine\, goldfields\, and blue-eyed grass. To see them\, will walk the short Wildflower Loop Trail and Crossing the picnic area and follow the Tule Elk Trail for about a mile to glimpse the preserve’s herd of more than 200 elk. Then will continue for three more miles to connect to the Reflection Pond Trail\, where a historic cattle pond provides a watering hole for wildlife. From high points along this hike\, you’ll survey an immense sea of grasslands and endangered wild animals that are protected in this area. Now after our day we will be stopping to eat on the way back. My truck is filling up fast for carpooling so please message me if you need a ride or if you can take others and follow us from the carpool site..Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 8:00 am) I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/tule-elk-trail-to-el-camino-viejo-trail \n\nWildflower Loop Trail rated easy .9 mile\nTule Elk Trail to El Camino Viejo Trail rated moderate 7.5 miles\nReflection Pond Trail rated moderate 2.1 miles\nMesquite Grove Trail rated easy .50 miles (Be prepared we may change this one to the San Emigdio Canyon trail rated easy but 7.0 miles)\n\nDogs are allowed\nParking is free but a donation box is located at the entrance\nRestrooms are located at the preserve \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules: \n\nHike your own hike\nPlease stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike\n(water\,hat\,sunglasses\,hiking boot/hiking shoes poles if needed snacks) \nLiability Disclaimer:\nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. The function of the Organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who signs up for an Event is responsible for his or her own safety and the safety of his or her guest. Remember this is your hike. All responsibilities are of your own once you attend. Please be aware of your limit. During outdoor activity you can encounter bodily injury\, snake bites\, sunburn\, overheating\, etc. This is not within our control and we ask that you are prepared for any of the above once you sign up for an Event. If you need to take several breaks (not counting quick breather breaks) and stops throughout a hike\, the hike maybe too much for your ability. Please check each event for miles\, elevation gain\, and difficulty rating. The higher the elevation gain means more incline and less leveled off sections.
