SUMMARY:Pacific Crest Trail to Grass Mountain + Spruce Draw
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION: This is a great local hike on a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). We start near Green Valley Ranger station using the PCT heading North. We will cross the fire road leading up to Grass Mtn\, stop briefly if it is clear to enjoy the views of the Mojave Desert and Tehachapi. We will stay on the PCT and continue North. This is a beautiful shady portion of the PCT that takes us to remote Spruce Draw Canyon then on to the Fire Rd returning via the PCT. Also\, you can go the whole distance or option an easier hike with a turnaround at Grass Mountain – your choice! \nDETAILS: \n\nHike leader volunteer(s): Tim R.\nMeet: Pacific Crest Trailhead at 7:45 am\, departure at 8:00 am sharp (May 4).\nDistance: Approximately 7.3 miles.\nElevation gain: Approximately 1\,673 feet.\nTime: Approximately 4.0 hours hiking including a snack break.\nConditioning: You need to be in generally good physical condition.\nDogs: Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.\nRestrooms: None.\nAdventure Pass: Not required.\nTurnaround: If you want an easier hike option (5.0 mi./1\,200 ft. gain) you can turn around at Grass Mountain.\n\nIMPORTANT NOTES: We’ll hike at a brisk pace and ask everyone to stay with the group for a friendly and safe outing.
