SUMMARY:Rancho Sierra Vista\, Peace\, Love\, and Joy ~ Intermediate Hike
DESCRIPTION:Let’s head out to the famed Peace\, Love\, Joy arch at the Danielson. This out and back hike wanders through grasslands and chaparral from the Rancho Sierra Vista trailhead\, then climbs up Danielson fire road for some fantastic views north to Port Hueneme and Oxnard and west toward the Pacific Ocean. If it’s really clear\, we’ll catch a glimpse of Mount Baldy in the distance to our east. At the upper end we’ll visit the remnants of an old cabin and the Danielson Monument. The monument is dedicated to Richard Danielson\, the person who donated much of the land for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SMNMRA). The hike will start in SMNMRA and pass into Point Mugu State Park. It’s mostly single track and fire road. \nThis out and back hike is about 6 miles with 1200feet of elevation gain. \nNOTE: Please review the guidelines to participate in our hikes. Here are some highlights and a link to the guidelines: \nhttps://www.meetup.com/The-Weekday-Trailblazers/about/\nRestrictions apply for your safety and ours:\nDon’t show up unless you’re on the “Attending” list\nNo “Plus Ones” on this hike\nPlan on completing the entire hike at an intermediate pace or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level.\nNo dogs allowed. \nDISCLAIMER / RELEASE OF LIABILITY\nThe hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group. Safety should be a priority for everyone in the group. Please treat this meet-up as hiking with a group of friends. If you become fatigued and unable to continue the hike\, it is expected you will advise the hike host of this and return to our starting point on your own. If you are able to proceed\, it is expected that you will maintain line of sight with other members of the group at all times and help to promote the group’s safety and fitness goals.\nOutdoor sports and other events we plan can be inherently dangerous and accidents may happen. By participating in any posted event\, you are taking responsibility for your own safety and well-being. The Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group and its organizers are not trained leaders and we do not confirm the qualifications of any of its members to lead or participate in trips. SUMMARY:Rancho Sierra Vista\, Peace\, Love\, and Joy
DESCRIPTION:We will start in the parking lot of SMMNRA and go up to the monument. We will take this hike at a gentler pace and we will take some breaks to let slower hikers catch up. It is an out and back\, however\, and you can go at your own pace. \nThis out and back hike is about 6 miles with 1100 feet of elevation gain. \nThere will be water in the creek so trekking poles may be helpful. \nDogs are not permitted in State Park wilderness areas. \nPlease bring ample hydration. There is poison oak at the Monument; if you don’t know what it looks like\, stay on the paths and don’t stray into the woods. \nNote: We will meet at the Rancho Sierra Vista paved parking lot. Meet near the bathrooms. Do NOT leave anything of value in your car\, at this or any other trailhead. \nDISCLAIMER / RELEASE OF LIABILITY \nThe hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group. Safety should be a priority for everyone in the group. Please treat this meet-up as hiking with a group of friends. If you become fatigued and unable to continue the hike\, it is expected you will advise the hike host of this and return to our starting point on your own. SUMMARY:8:15 AM START TIME\, Peace\, Love\, and Joy
DESCRIPTION:8:15 AM START TIME\nWe’ll have to leave promptly because the 8:30 group will be on our heels!\nPLEASE ADJUST YOUR RSVP ON OTHER HIKES IF YOU JOIN THIS.\nWhile the heat is once again with us\, we will take this at a gentler pace and we will take some breaks to let slower hikers catch up and turn around just before going up to the monument. \nWe will start in the parking lot at Rancho Sierra Vista and head up through grasslands and chaparral from the Rancho Sierra Vista trailhead\, then climb up Boney Mountain Trail for some fantastic views west to Port Hueneme\, Oxnard and the Pacific Ocean. We may see Santa Cruz Island as well as the Los Padres Mountain range if it’s not hazy. If it’s really clear\, we’ll catch a glimpse of Mount Baldy in the distance to our east. \nThis out and back hike is about 6 miles with 1200 feet of elevation gain. The hike will start in SMMNRA and pass into Point Mugu State Park and Wilderness. It’s mostly single track and fire road. Dogs are not permitted in State Park wilderness areas. If you are able to proceed\, it is expected that you will maintain line of sight with other members of the group at all times and help to promote the group’s safety and fitness goals. \nOutdoor sports and other events we plan can be inherently dangerous and accidents may happen. By participating in any posted event\, you are taking responsibility for your own safety and well-being. The Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group and its organizers are not trained leaders and we do not confirm the qualifications of any of its members to lead or participate in trips. All participants take full responsibility for their own actions. \nIf you choose to sign up for this or any Weekday Trailblazers Meetup event\, you are releasing the Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group\, its organizers\, and sponsors from all liability in case of possible injuries. Your personal safety depends on your own judgment and experience. You agree that you can navigate back to your transportation by yourself and agree to do so if you fall behind and lose track of the main body of hikers. \nAll participants must be 18 or older\, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
