We will have a good time hiking through the area and get a great workout. This hike will be a fast-paced\, moderately strenuous 7 mile trek with an elevation gain of 1\,200+ ft\, through the Conejo historic Danielson Ranch area. We will be taking the standard route (no Fossil Trail). We may or may not get back back before dark\, so please pack a head lamp or flashlight. We will get some killer views of the 1000 Oaks and Newbury Park areas as well as Point Mugu and even the Channel Islands and Pacific Ocean on a clear day. Looking forward to seeing you there! \nDIRECTIONS: \nTake Highway 101 to Thousand Oaks. Exit at Wendy Drive. Go south (towards the ocean) on Wendy all the way until it dead ends at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. There is ample free parking on the dirt along Potrero Road. Go south (towards the ocean) on Wendy all the way until it dead ends at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. There is ample free parking on the dirt along Potrero Road. There are no restrooms at the trailhead. \nEssentials : \nThis time of year you don’t need much\, but make sure you bring a comfortable amount of H2O (1-2 liters for most of my hikes). Dress yourself with So Cal Hiking attire\, and be willing to get a good workout!
