The goal is to take a short cross country side route to the Bell Hartman Mine which I’ve been to before as well as some trails in the Chilao area including a steep rocky trail to Mount Mooney. We might follow a canyon that feeds Alder Creek if time permits. There are pools\, most likely dry this time of the year\, that will be my final objective. After that we can stop off at Panera Bread for lunch in La Canada.\nAn Adventure Pass will be needed to park at Chilao – so we need to make sure that every car taken up there has one. \nMEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: 6:30am at the Woodland Hills Meetup location. Those who want to carpool from Woodland Hills\, can meet me at the corner of Leonora and Ponce Avenue. Ponce is the first street east of Fallbrook. (BOOTS ON\, READY TO GO). IF MEETING THE GROUP HERE\, YOU MUST STATE SO\, OTHERWISE I WON’T BE STOPPING HERE.\nALTERNATE MEETUP DIRECTIONS: From the 210 Fwy\, exit at Angeles Crest Hwy and drive north about a quarter mile to just past Milmada Dr. in LA CANADA\, then park alongside the road. We will all meet here no later than 7:15 a.m. and take as few cars as possible to Chilao. \nDISTANCE: 6+ miles \nELEVATION GAIN/LOSS: 1000′ \nTRAIL DESCRIPTION: Dirt road\, trail and rock scrambling \nTHE PACE: We’re going to stay together\, so no faster than the slowest hiker (a moderate pace). \nDURATION: We’ll want to finish the hike and be back to the cars by 4:00 p.m. at the latest\, followed by lunch at Panera Bread. \nLEVEL: Intermediate trekker capable of off trail scrambling \nPACE: Very slow since I’m still recovering from an injury \nNEW CDH POLICY: Any member with two NO SHOWS on CDH events since Jan. 1st 2017 will lose their membership with CDH. Also\, members will not be allowed on this and future events until they have updated their CDH profile by answering the new questions as well as having a recognizable face photo of themselves. This update can not be done via an app on an i-phone or other type hand held phones. It must be done on a computer.

SUMMARY:Mountain E-bike ride - Coral Canyon and Mesa Peak Motorway/BBT

We’ll start where the Mesa Peak motorway intersects Coral Canyon and head south. This is a fire road along the crest of the mountains above Malibu. It’s all dirt. We’ll also do a short trek to Mesa Peak which is an extra 8/10ths of a mile. \nWhen we get back to the start point\, we may also make an optional extra trip towards the top of Bulldog motorway and possibly beyond. \nMEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: We’ll all meet at 9 am at the intersection of Coral Canyon and Mesa Peak Motorway. Note that Mesa Peak Motorway is a dirt road. \nPARKING: PLAN A is to park along the road near the intersection of Mesa Peak motorway and Coral Canyon. This is because Google seems to think that you can’t go any farther than that on Coral Canyon.\nHowever\, if you can go farther\, do so and we’ll meet at the parking lot about a quarter mile farther on Coral Canyon. The paved road ends before you get to that spot but the dirt road portion is pretty short. \nDISTANCE: 9+ miles \nELEVATION GAIN: 800 feet \nDURATION: 4 hours \nLEVEL: Mountain biker able to keep up with slow e-bikers \nMY CELL # IS: 818-307-6460
